Domaintools

Domaintools is the single greatest people finding website out there.

If you have a company's website address, you most likely have access to the most important person in the company.

DomainTools has the information as to the person who manages the domain name for the website. If they do not have privacy on the domain name, the information is available.

This information includes the business address, phone, name of administrator (normally the CEO, or owner of the company, as anyone intelligent does not allow someone else to control something so important), and finally, the e-mail address of this person.

The e-mail address is normally the information that is most up-to-date, as no one wants to lose their domain name, and they must be notified if anything happens with it.

I use DomainTools every day. It is the most important tool for me.

Hot Frog

Hot Frog is a directory of businesses in the USA, that allows you to search for businesses and products by location.

This is not a people finding website, it is a business finding website.

The results are sorted by distance from the location you input, and include business name, products offered, business address, and business phone.

You could easily use this information in a sales capacity to create a list of companies to approach for a certain product in a certain area.

You may then click on a business, and it will give you more specific information, including business address, business phone number, company website, business fax number, as well as information about the business, and information on key people at the company.

Lead 411 is an excellent tool for finding businesses, and people at those businesses.

Jigsaw

Jigsaw is not the best people finding website out there, as they really don't have a lot of information in their database.

The website is however an excellent place to start if you are going to be building a list of sales leads for your company.

The reason I say this is the fact that Jigsaw literally will allow you to download most of their general information for free.

You can download lists to find a business, find a person, find an address, find a phone number, etc.

This gives you an excel spreadsheet with most of the work done....I can't tell you exactly how to fill in the blanks, as it would probably drive them to change this practice, but it can be done with some creativity.

Manta

Manta is my preferred tool for finding business owners.

Normally, when you search for a company or a business owner on a free people finding website, the information is outdated, or very limited.

Manta gives very up-to-date information on the owner of a business, their business address, their business phone, and even their website in many cases.

You can search for a company by location, or by category, or use the search bar to search by just about any field (owner, address, phone, state, city, zip, type of business etc).

Zaba Search

Zaba Search allows you to search for people by name or by phone number.

I wasn't really impressed with this tool. Most of the searches were paid, and the information is all out dated.

This site gets about 85 thousand unqiue visits...makes me wonder why.

123 People

123 People:

123 People has come a long way. I have never seen a more thorough and accurate free people finding website. The results give you information from the web, social networks, photo sites, video sites, etc.

The results include e-mail addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers, etc. for people.

I use all ofthe websites I have listed on a daily basis, and normally had to do multiple searches on multiple websites to get the information before now.

I am very impressed!!!

Wink

Wink:

Wink is a good website for finding people for free. You can search by name, e-mail, or phone. Wink even searches the social networks, which is great.

Pipl

Pipl:

Pipl is one of the most comprehensive people finding websites I have ever seen, and most amazingly, it is free.

I did a search on myself, and most of the information was outdated, but it is still a good tool:

You can search for someone on a personal or professional level, through public records, general information, as well as many of the social networks and business sites.

You have the option of searching by name, email, username or phone. The options other than name search tend to present the same information brought up by the name search, with many sponsored options.

I will present ways to find people effectively (for free) with the other options in later posts.
